Cyndi Osajima was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She moved to Hawaii in 1978.

She has an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from Kapiolani Community College; and undergraduate degree (Sociology) from California State University, Los Angeles and a Master’s degree in Public Health, sub-specializing in gerontology (the study of the aging process) from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Cyndi has worked for Project Dana for over 25 years and currently serves as its Executive Director. She considers working with the elderly population is a dream job.
