Reverend Satoshi Tomioka
Reverend Tomioka is from Shimane, in the southern part of Japan. His Hawaiian name is Kaʻimipono (the seeker of the truth).
He completed his studies at Ryukoku University in Kyoto, majoring in Intercultural Communication and Shin Buddhism. Continuing on at Ryukoku, he entered graduate school and received a M.A. in Literature Shin Buddhism.
His first ministerial assignment was at Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin in Honolulu (2013–2017). He currently serves as the resident minister of Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple on Hawaiʻi Island, while also overseeing Pāhala and Nā‘ālehu Hongwanji (2017 to current).
Rev. Tomioka is married to Haruka, and together they care for four cats: Kinako, Kuromame, Latte, and Shiro. In his free time, he enjoys playing the ukulele and watching movies.
