Halloween refreshments were enjoyed after the service. In case you're wondering, "brains" taste a lot like peach Jello, and the worms definitely aren't the same ones discussed in Matts Okamoto's gardening class.

Prudence Kusano gave the Dharma Talk
Today's Dharma Talk was given by Prudence Kusano on dana (generosity), one of the six paramitas of Buddhism.
Dinner followed by the showing of the animated movie Zootopia, complete with freshly popped popcorn.
Zootopia is not only enjoyable as an animated comedy, but also delivers messages pertinent to the current state of the world including the dangers of stereotypes and prejudices. The movie also shows us the importance of embracing change.
“No matter what kind of person you are, I implore you: Try. Try to make the world a better place. Look inside yourself and recognize that change starts with you.”
As part of today's Dharma Talk on change and the impermanence of life, Rev. David Nakamoto asked, "Have you experienced a loss in your life and what did it feel like?" Small groups were formed, and each member was asked to share.
