Sunday Family Service at Ho'omaluhia

Our Family Service was held offsite at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens in Kaneohe. Though it initially looked like we would see some wind and rain, the weather held up nicely throughout the service. Ho'omaluhia lives up to its name, "peaceful refuge."

Halloween refreshments were enjoyed after the service. In case you're wondering, "brains" taste a lot like peach Jello, and the worms definitely aren't the same ones discussed in Matts Okamoto's gardening class.

Dinner & A Movie Night

Dinner followed by the showing of the animated movie Zootopia, complete with freshly popped popcorn.

Zootopia is not only enjoyable as an animated comedy, but also delivers messages pertinent to the current state of the world including the dangers of stereotypes and prejudices. The movie also shows us the importance of embracing change.

No matter what kind of person you are, I implore you: Try. Try to make the world a better place. Look inside yourself and recognize that change starts with you.
— Officer Judy Hopps, Zootopia
