Today's Dharma Talk was given by Shirley Yangisawa, who shared highlights of her trip to Japan and the subject of gratitude. Everyone received a "kiss" from Shirley at the end -- the edible kind in chocolate, dark chocolate, or with almonds!
This was Kailua Hongwanji's final Sunday Family Service for 2016. The next First Sunday Family Service will be on January 8, 2017.

The Annual General Membership Meeting was held on December 11, 2016, immediately following the Sunday Family Service.
Kailua Hongwanji Mission Officers and Directors for 2017 were confirmed and installation of the officers by Rev. David Nakamoto followed the meeting.
After the meeting, the membership and guests enjoyed lunch at New Mui Kwai II in Kailua.
Betty Okamoto was recognized for her years of service on the board
Rev. David Nakamoto gave today's Dharma Talk, tying in recent events around the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
The Family Service was followed by the Annual General Membership Meeting and the installation of Kailua Hongwanji's Officers and Directors for 2017.

Rev. David Nakamoto gave today's Dharma Talk
Rev. David Nakamoto delivered today's Dharma Talk commemorating Bodhi Day, which was followed by a Bodhi leaf family craft activity.
Our Family Service was held offsite at Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens in Kaneohe. Though it initially looked like we would see some wind and rain, the weather held up nicely throughout the service. Ho'omaluhia lives up to its name, "peaceful refuge."

Special Thanksgiving cards were created after Sunday's Family Service. Every card was unique, as the "leaves" were created using different colored fingerprint
