Dharma Service for Sunday, January 8, 2023 with a Dharma Talk by Dennis Tashiro at Windward Buddhist Temple. The first service of the month is our Intergenerational Service, with a Dharma message for both kids and adults. The book Dennis reads is "Waiting is Not Easy," an Elephant and Piggie book by Mo Willems.

Remembrance Day Dharma Service for Sunday, December 18, 2022 with Rev. Dr. Bert Sumikawa at Windward Buddhist Temple. Rev. Sumikawa discusses the meaning of Christmas, shares a book, "The Peace Book" by Todd Parr, and performs the rap "Shinran, Baby, He Broke the Rules" that he and Dr. George Tanabe originally performed years ago.

Remembrance Day is a time to honor family, friends, and even pets who passed away during the month of December, regardless of the year.

Bodhi Day Dharma Service for Sunday, December 11, 2022 with Rev. Barbara Brennan at Windward Buddhist Temple. Bodhi Day, on December 8, is the date of the attainment of perfect awakening by Shakyamuni Buddha.

The service was followed by our annual General Membership Meeting, installation of the 2023-24 Board of Directors and Officers, and a recognition luncheon for Rev. Bert Sumikawa, whose last day as our resident minister will be December 31, 2022. Rev. Sumikawa will continue to be connected to Windward Buddhist Temple, however, as the oversee minister, working with Rev. Barbara Brennan.

Eitaikyo Dharma Service for Sunday, November 13, 2022 with a Dharma Talk by Rev. Kojun Hashimoto, "Will Listening to Buddhism Make You Happy?" at Windward Buddhist Temple. This Jodo Shinshu Buddhist church service was recorded at Windward Buddhist Temple, a Shin Buddhist Temple in Kailua, Hawaii.

Rev. Kojun Hashimoto is the resident minister at Wahiawa Hongwanji Mission. He hails from Shiga Prefecture in Japan and has held previous assignments at Hawaii Betsuin on Oahu and West Kauai Hongwanji on Kauai.

Etaikyo is a special service where we remember all those who came before us at our temple who have helped to propagate the Dharma, and, in doing so, have ensured that others are able to do so in the future as well.

Intergenerational & Veterans Day Dharma Service for Sunday, November 6, 2022 with a Dharma Talk by Rev. Barbara Brennan at Windward Buddhist Temple. This Jodo Shinshu Buddhist church service was recorded at Windward Buddhist Temple, a Shin Buddhist Temple in Kailua, Hawaii.

Welcome to Rev. Barbara Brennan, Kaikyoshi-ho minister at Windward Buddhist Temple effective November 1, 2022. Rev. Brennan is originally from Mesa, Arizona, where she grew up in a Jodo Shinshu household. The Ishikawa family has a long history in Mesa, and Ishikawa Elementary in Mesa is named in honor of her uncle Zedo Ishikawa, a promising Mesa High senior who passed away in 1932 due to a tragic gun accident. In today's Dharma message, Rev. Brennan shares the karmic conditions that lead her to Hawaii to carry on the Nembutsu life.
