Autumn Ohigan & Peace Day Service for Sunday, September 20, 2026 with a Dharma Talk by Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii Bishop Toshiyuki Umitani. This Jodo Shinshu Buddhist service was officiated by Bishop Umitani.
Autumn Ohigan is one of six major special services observed by the Hongwanji. The Pure Land is regarded as being in the west. Twice a year, on the Autumn and the Spring equinox, the length of day and night are equal, and the sun sets due west.
Join us at the 6th Annual Windward Mall Bon Dance at Windward Mall in Kaneohe, Hawaii on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Windward Buddhist Temple will be there with our andagi, takuan, and other Bon Dance favorites.
Following the service, members went on a walk around Kailua to distribute Peace Day cranes.
